Cloth Cameras, 2021-ongoing

pinhole cameras sewn from cloth; instant film

Cloth Cameras is an ongoing project where I fabricate pinhole cameras that facilitate the collaboration of a group of people to make photographs. The photographs printed by the cameras are on instant film and are not reproducible like typical negatives. By nature of their construction, these cameras require the consent of both photographers and ‘subjects’ to be operated.  These images document the use of a cloth camera designed to be used by 3 or more people, as well as a cloth camera designed to be held in the embrace of two people.

Thank you to the many friends who worked with me to make these cameras and images, including Natalie Schoenbrunner, Victor Castañeda H, Cat Gunn, mika Castañeda, Wren Gardiner, Jun!, Maria Antonia Eguiarte, Katie Giritlian and Bethany Tabor.
